Proceeds from the event go towards Rock for Kids which provides music education to underserved Chicago youth.

The Hideout Block Party is only a day away! This year they have joined forces with the A.V. Club to put on one hell of a music festival. The quality of artists this year is impeccable which is whI unfortunately will be out of town for a wedding and I am very jealous of all of you that get to see Glen Hansard, Iron & Wine, and Wilco… amongst others. If I had to pick one venue that signified Chicago’s diverse and supportive music scene I would say the Hideout is at the top. If you haven’t checked this place out please do. Support local music! Check out this video for “Get Free” by Major Lazer featuring Amber from the Dirty Projectors. I can’t stop listening to this song!!! I saw the Dirty Projectors in 2009 at Millenium Park with the Sea and the Cake.
They are a great band and Major Lazer is pretty dope also.
The Dirty Projectors will be playing Pitchfork Music Festival on Friday July 13th which is definitely worth checking out. This video gives me a GI Joe vibe, like those videos that were voiced over on Ebaumsworld.
